In the event of a fire, firefighters will wear fire clothing quickly rushed to the scene, rushed into the fire to put out the fire. Do you know why firefighters are not afraid of fire when wearing fire fighting clothes? Let's take a look at it. The clothes we usually wear are made of different materials. Some are made of cotton, some are made of silk and wool, and some are made of chemical raw materials, such as nylon, polyester and acrylic. But all the raw materials of these clothes have a common disadvantage, that is, fear of fire. According to incomplete statistics, 33% of those seriously injured in the fire were caused by the burning of their own clothes.

Firefighters are responsible for fighting fires and protecting people's lives and property. If they also wear fire-fearing clothing, they obviously cannot perform the difficult task of saving lives. Through experiments, it is found that a cotton dress will zoom and turn black at a high temperature of 400 degrees, not to mention a chemical fiber dress, but an asbestos dress can withstand a high temperature of 1000 degrees. So people with asbestos processing, woven into asbestos cloth, and then made of asbestos cloth firemen wear coats, gloves and other protective equipment. With these clothes that are not afraid of fire, firefighters are not afraid of fire and heat.
Cloth made of asbestos fibers. Because of its incombustibility, it can be coated with dirt when burning, so it is often called "fire ring cloth" or "fire gallant cloth" in the early history books of our country ". There are many varieties and specifications of asbestos cloth, including plain weave, twill, mountain twill, etc. The weight of the fabric ranges from 100 grams to 1000 grams per square meter, and the thickness ranges from 0.4mm to 2.5mm. Asbestos cloth has good fire resistance and heat insulation properties. It is often used as a fire prevention and heat insulation material for automobiles, airplanes and trains. It has been used in refrigeration equipment, welder fire clothing, theater screens, steel making, etc.
Fireproof clothingWith the change of the times and development. But either one is an important tool that firefighters use to protect their health. Therefore, it should have the following characteristics: fire resistance, heat resistance and heat insulation, as well as strong toughness to prevent the impact and collision of sharp objects. In addition, it should also have the ability to prevent chemical substances from damaging the skin; adapt to changes in the external environment, such as cold and warm, wind and rain, and be able to maintain physical strength and vigorous energy; the material should be flexible.
Fireproof clothingSuitable for many workplaces. Fire-resistant clothing needs to meet certain flame-retardant performance standards, so performance inspection and testing must be carried out in accordance with the standards before leaving the factory and during use. There are many test methods for fire protection clothing, and the following small series will briefly introduce several.
american fire clothing test standards:
Vertical combustion mode is adopted. The fabric test shall meet the following requirements:
(1) The average carbonization length should not exceed 100mm.
(2) The average reburning time shall not exceed 2s.
(3) There can be no molten droplets after the sample is ignited.
For multi-layer materials, each layer needs to be tested separately to pass the above requirements. In addition, there are relatively complete standard systems such as heat transfer performance testing and combustion dummy testing.
european fire clothing test standards:
Test methods include surface burn and bottom burn. Depending on the type of material, one or two methods can be selected for testing.
For surface burning tests, the material must meet the following requirements:
(1) After ignition, any test sample cannot burn and spread to the edge of the fabric or the upper end of the fabric.
(2) No hole can be formed after any specimen is ignited.
(3) After any specimen is ignited, there shall be no burning droplets or molten material falling.
(4) The average reburning time should be less than or equal to 2s.
(5) The average smoldering time should be less than or equal to 2s.
For the bottom burn test, the material shall meet all the above requirements except for (2).
